A classic story about how Smint started
1990
Smint dispenser developedOur story begins in Spain. In 1990 Chupa Chups discovers that there are chances in confectionary for adults. Adults also like candy, but would like something else for a change. They prefer something refreshing. From here they started work on the first Smint.
1995
Smint dispenser is launched in UKThe quest to the ideal mint took 4 years. Then a year later launched in the UK. Tasting, trying and perfecting. But then the world meets SMINT. The nice refreshing triangular power mint for every moment.
1996
Smint “No Smint, no kiss” campaign beginsSmint becomes synonymous over the next 6 years with the kissing breath mint using the “No Smint, no kiss” campaign.
2001
Smint partners with Breast Cancer CareSmint joined forces with Breast Cancer Care to donate 5p from every strawberry pack of Smint sold to the charity. It has been a long standing relationship that continues to this day.
2003
Smint Fresh breath + anti-cavitiesWe learnt the Xylitol used in Smint is great for teeth in particular on cavities and used this within our advertising message.
2006
Fusion Perfetti van Melle and Chupa ChupsIn 2006 SMINT and Chupa Chups became a part of Perfetti van Melle. To the future!
2009
Introduction Smint-XXL Tins into the UKIn 2009 we introducted the popular Smint tins. These Smints are three times larger than the original Smints, and are available in different flavors. Smint continues to grow and is now snonymous for freshmakers.
2012
Smint Win an Ipad on pack promotionIn 2012 we ran the first ever on-pack activity for any Perfetti Van Melle brand in the UK! With a Win an Ipad on pack promotion.
2014
Introduction SMINTUK onto FacebookIn 2014 we came with a bang to Facebook! With a create your own dispenser cover campaign running alongside our fans grew and have continued to grow ever since!
